Silverback Gorilla can’t get his mind off of the construction crew working on a nearby zoo enclosure, even though the rest of his family remains unbothered

I too would be very concerned if a bunch of bald little elves started building unknown structures looming over my home

How well built silverbacks are is amazing, the size of those arms, legs, shoulders, neck etc is scary, real shame to see them locked up though

This gorilla is just standing there watching construction like an Italian umarell. Hands behind back energy even without hands behind back.
For anyone who doesn’t know, an “umarell” is an Italian term for old retired men who stand near construction sites and watch the workers like they’re supervising the whole project.
Don’t ask my why I know, I just found this video doom scrolling and it amused me no end. One day I think I will be like them.
I imagine being stuck in a zoo, the view rarely changes. It’s probably the only remotely interesting thing that’s happened in a month.

Seeing him gave me the feeling of “Umarell”.
Enjoyable watching him being genuinely interested, bit concerned even maybe at some points.
And still the stupid people saying that animals aren’t smart or can’t feel/show emotions.

Isn’t it his who job to watch out for the guys? The family carries on and he watches for signs of danger. That’s nature.

Scumbag zoo wouldn’t let the gorilla help the construction workers.

He’s obviously used to seeing people, being in a zoo, but he doesn’t like construction crews(or construction cranes apparently)
I’m just a dude watching another dude watch a dude
Whenever I see gorillas, I am simply awestruck.
“These guys are screwing it all up. That’s never gonna last. I could have done this in half the time.”
He Just want to help or he Is the supervisor
Dads are dads in any species.
Probably wants to help. Poor fella sitting there with nothing to do in a cage.

Middle aged dad
The rest of his family has nothing to be bothered by because the umarell gorilla is doing such a fine job watching over things.
Born to climb, force to sit on the ground watch man climb higher.

This is every dad, up early on Sunday morning, outside, wondering why he is hearing a drill and where the fuck is it coming from.
Fast forward a few days… Silverback seen wearing a hard hat and tattered hivis vest. And the crew can’t find Shelby?! 🧐
Wondering if they got permits or not and if he should call the township
It’s probably the most excitement he’s had in years.
“Now why are they using a 5/16th…ohhhhh, I see. Clever.”
Just dads being dads observing the construction crew. We’ve all been there.
Bro be like: dafuq you doing ova there??
Am I the only Gen Xer to look at a gorilla and see resting dad face?
